Andrei Blakely was born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland. A graduate of Oberlin college with a double major in English and Black Studies and a minor in Film, Andrei decided to pursue journalism after graduation. After obtaining a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park, Andrei began his career at a newspaper in Northern Virginia.
Throughout his journalism career, he covered a wide range of topics including education, sports, government, crime, business, and transportation, earning recognition within the journalism industry.
After finding success in the journalistic field, Andrei decided to pivot towards pursuing a legal career. Andrei received a law degree from the University of Maryland, Carey School of Law. After being officially licensed by the Maryland and District of Columbia State Bar Associations (VERIFY) in 2013, Andrei began pursuing opportunities in the criminal and family law spaces. After falling in love with family law, Andrei shifted his focus entirely to that practice area. His journalism career allowed him to hone his people skills, attention to detail, and sense of empathy, all characteristics that serve him well as a compassionate, dedicated family lawyer.
