Michael Albee didn’t plan to become a family law attorney. He became one because he needed one.

Michael grew up in Phoenix, third generation, and spent his early career as a writer, working across blogs and publications. Then, at a very young age, he became a father. And not long after, he found himself in the middle of a custody battle, navigating every emotion that comes with it: the fear, the confusion, the feeling of being caught in a tornado spinning in every direction with no clear way out.

That experience changed the course of his life. He went to law school specifically to help other people through what he’d lived through, and he’s been doing exactly that ever since.

Today, Michael is both a licensed family law attorney and a trained mediator, practicing in Arizona. He handles divorce, custody disputes, child support, domestic violence matters, and prenuptial agreements. But the through-line in every case is the same: the children. Their names don’t appear on the pleadings or the court docket, but Michael has never forgotten that they’re the most important people in any family law case. Every decision he helps a client make is made with that in mind.

His background as a writer also shapes how he practices. He communicates clearly. He explains what’s happening and why. He makes sure clients understand not just where their case stands, but what their life might look like on the other side of it — and how to adapt to the new daily routine that comes with it.
